Want my old laser disc player? For free!

So I'm selling my house, and probably moving somewhere far from Atlanta early next year. Or sometime. But assuming the house sells, I'll be moving somewhere in January or so, and am trying to get rid of basically everything.

So:

Pioneer CLD-S201

Good cosmetic shape. The slide out mini-CD drawer doesn't work, and hasn't for about 10 years. But last time I hooked the player up, (when the Star Wars OT SE dvds came out) it was fine with laser discs. I think I even have the remote somewhere.

With the player are some discs: the Star Wars OT (SW in the last pre-SE THX pressing, the other two in older Fox pressings); The Wild Bunch (pre director's cut); The Good the Bad and the Ugly; Dead Man; Visions of Light; Belly of an Architect; Naked Lunch; maybe a couple more, that's just off the top of my head. Oh, The Killer in the Criterion edition.

PM for my phone # if you want any of this. I might have more stuff in the next couple weeks, very likely including a bunch of DVDs I have no use for.

Free, huh? Is that your best offer?

Can you pay for shipping too?

What about your house. Is that involved in some way?

I will pay for shipping and then some, if you could mail it.

I've had a couple people from Atlanta ask first, so unless they swing by and somehow fail to take it home, consider the sucker gone.

Slightly related:

Last year, my parents were having a garage sale, so I packed up a ton of stuff, trying to get rid of it. So I took my old LD player, and about 15 LD's and put a "Best Offer" sign up. I got $50 on what was probably a $500+ investment.

Technology - love it!

I sent you a PM late last night, Russ. Did you get it?

If it makes you feel any better, I bought a fully functioning LD player and about 20 discs at a garage sale for $20.

I then sold about 15 of the LD's on ebay for over $100. (This was at least 4 years ago, a lot of titles weren't yet on dvd.)

Then I bought the OT (since, you know, it was never going to come out on dvd) and Night Of The Living Dead on LD.
I plugged it all up (I don't have space or enough jacks to keep it plugged up full time) and watched Night Of The Living Dead and about 45 minutes of Star Wars.

I haven't plugged it up since.

I watched a couple parts of movies before I got rid of it, and was aurprised how bad the quality seems to DVD. Yeah, it beats the heck outta VHS. But man, we get sucked in don't we.

I'm currently putting my DVD purchase on barebones right now. At somepoint, I'm gonna make the switch to a highdef DVD system, so why waste all that money.

Well, it was all worth it just watching Night Of The Living Dead the one time. It looked awesome.

Even though I came out in the black, buying and selling, etc. I'm still slightly annoyed Lucas was able to screw me, even on ebay!

Is the laser disc player still available?

After eight years? Caveat emptor.
