"Bring out the 15 hookers and the drugs" sweet sign me up I want to be a globalist
Hell yes. Allegedly anyway. I saw that back in Jon Ronson's thing before he was really big and his wife/marketing director is giving this speal about how much audience he has built on his own, which is a lot for someone of 28.
And I was like "You fuckin' what?"
Apparently he has always been your 45 year old overweight crazy uncle who sounds like he has lived on a solid diet of whiskey and cigars for twenty years.
How his mum gave birth to that I don't even know.
Almost every conservative I know over the age of 35 has never heard of Jones (not exactly a scientific study, I know), so they usually wave off any idea that he's influential when I bring him up. But I know a lot of conservatives, and many of the younger guys who grew up on the Internet think Jones is one of the only truth-tellers out there.
I used to just laugh at Jones. Yeah, I knew people who thought he was truthful, but my assumption was that his worldview would never reach the mainstream. But Trump has appeared on Jones' show and even called to thank him after the election. The Republican Party has allowed Jones to become mainstream, even if his conservative credentials are in question. Hell, we just saw today that Breitbart's Milo Yiannoupolus is going to be the keynote speaker at CPAC, despite being wary of his own conservatism.
The party is playing a dangerous game on many fronts, and this is one of them. The infotainment industry of conservatism (or however it's defined nowadays by Jones and whatnot) is clearly winning right now. If Trump starts tweeting out that people should get their news from InfoWars, that's a "get the toothpaste back in the tube" situation.
I don't know why he needs a thread devoted to him outside of the fact that Trump may occasionally parrot some of the wonky bullshit that comes out of his mouth and we already have the Trumpocalypse thread for that, but okay then. If this thread keeps him from coming up in other places, I guess I'll have to take that as a "win" for my sanity.
I like checking out conspiracy theories from time to time, and always assumed Jones would be a "power to the people", "down with the powers that be" kind of guy, which is what makes his pro Trump, anti protester stance so strange.
It made headlines because of this:
Which is interesting because there's any number of ludicrous stories circling around the Jones-o-sphere and beyond at any given time that would really demand action from people if they were true. But generally people seem happy to accept a casual belief in truly horrifying shit without it turning them into paranoid hermits or vigilantes (like, I don't know, say FEMA are secretly planning to exterminate half the population of the continental US and have all the coffins ready. Sandy Hook was staged but children were actually murdered as part of an exercise that was ultimately about tightening gun laws and federal control. These things make some people act stalkey or weird, but really if you truly accept the truth of this stuff you're no longer talking about regular old cynicism. You should be taking some sort of direct action. Yet nearly every follower does not) .
Well here someone finally did. Buzzfeed broke down the growth of the story somewhat
Since then, of course, there has been many unable to let go and plenty of whispers of 'new evidence' and a sort of "Well they jumped the gun (yuk yuk) but that doesn't mean it's not true" kind of stuff. So it might be back.
Reality Check's story on Pizzagate
The instagram photos from Comet Ping Pong Pizza Owner's account are kind of disturbing and weird.
This video covers a lot of the (circumstantial) evidence: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K6vvx2rHid0
Granted some of this video goes a bit far, so of course, grain of salt.
"Why haven't the authorities investigated?!" he drops, with a hefty wink at the end there. It's not the most outre video on the subject but putting that in after a bunch of vague and non-incriminating details, which he himself admits, is pure Glen Beckery. Good grief, where would there be anything resembling probable cause in that lot.
So many of these things begin with face value acceptance of supposed FBI pedophilia network codes which is apparently universally accepted by the Paedophile board of governors by right as of the vote taken at the International Paedophile congress and entered into law as An Act For The Reference of Sex with Children to be Disguised as Food (1992).
Now, even if there's some substance to this (and I haven't run into anything clear except screencaps from 4chan/8chan so far) the problem that ought to leap out at people is that words for food being code for paedophilic behaviour also still mean food most of the time. Except when these people use them of course. And the reason we think these people using these words means paedophile stuff and not food is because you see there's this code that pedophiles use...
There's a barely concealed old fashioned Gay Panic at work in all of this stuff too and it's really kind of amazing to see it and the date isn't 1989 or something.
This guy runs this pizza shop and he's gay and he's politically connected and he's into weird art and burlesque and has weird friends. But he likes children and pictures of his friends children and so forth. Why? Why would this man be interested in children? What does he want with these children?!
A video with some recontextualising of the original emails and other things.
Not everything, but gives an idea of the flavor of thinking that underpins a lot of this evidence.
