So the "Blacks for Trump" guy who's behind him at the rally (and has been at several previous pre-election rallies) is a real piece of work who was part of an actual murder-cult:

http://talkingpointsmemo.com/livewire/blacks-for-trump-michael-black-man-yahweh-ben-yahweh-cult

How does the Secret Service allow that guy to get so close to the President?

I do sometimes feel bad for McCain. I think he does have genuine principles that do not much align with my own, and include an abiding love of the Republican Party. And when you pull back from the outrage over this or that particular vote, there is something tragicomic in how aggressively it has not loved him back. Yes, he would have saved some dignity by going independent years ago, but he's an old man and one doesn't join the modern day US army or GOP to fight revolutions. That was never what he wanted, but it's like he's Charlie Brown and the football is a return to sane, principled conservatism.

Although in this case I think Trump probably just didn't care enough to know the difference between Sweden and Sehwan in Pakistan.  Which in and of itself defies belief.

It's darkly hilarious that Drumpf simultaneously hates most of the press, yet if Fox News or Breitbart ran a story saying that aliens had landed on Earth, he would immediately have a press conference on what he's gonna do about it.

He is the most gullible human being I have ever known of.

And now effectively the most powerful. Laughing at this insanity is the only thing that keeps me from being paralyzed with fear at what such a dangerously unstable man might get us into. What happens to any of us tomorrow or the day after that could be the direct result of him talking reckless at the wrong place, at the wrong time and to the wrong person. This is a man who had to take up time, money, and the manpower that supports the highest office in the country to make himself feel better for doing such a shitty job after one month.

I'm on record here saying Obama's biggest missed act of patriotism was not putting an outline of the agenda for our alien overlords in his letter to Trump.

All he had to write was:

"Donald-

It's all a sham. The President has no power. The Aliens dictate world events, and allow us to exist only so long as we don't start another global war. If we please them, they grant us immortality.

-Barack

P.S. They want us to adopt single payer healthcare."

I imagine that an alien invasion would be the only thing to get the Republicans to commit to getting Trump out of office as quickly as possible. Even they don't want Trump to be the guy that an advanced species does a meet and greet with when they ask us to take them to our leader. Shit, they'd probably try to vote Obama back in to deal with it. "Come on, Barry, tell 'em we're all right, but put some stank on it."

"Vince Calvano, 57, said it was time for a second American civil war.

"When Trump does anything they scream like hell just like when Obama did anything we screamed like hell. Let's go around behind the shed and may the best man win," he said.

Mr Calvano said he left the workforce for the past eight years because he refused to pay taxes to Barack Obama. Now, with Mr Trump in office, he's looking for work."

To be safe, it would've had to have been a video. And each sentence would need to mention Drumpf by name. And he'd have had to lead with calling Drumpf his "bro", to show that Donny had made a black friend.

Otherwise, 90% odds are that Drumpf would lose interest during the first sentence and just start calling everyone he doesn't like a sham. "You're a sham!" "You too, yer a sham!" "Even Obama thinks you're a sham!"

It'd be a real challenge to properly sabotage a guy with the attention span of a hummingbird.

Translation: Lost his job 8 or more years ago and is retroactively saying the reason he hasn't worked is because he chose not to as opposed to looking for work all this time and failing to find any. Is now still continuing to look for work as he already has been despite what he said.

We don't have enough information yet to rule out the possibility he was sleeping in parks and eating out of dumpsters all this time.

Sometimes when people protest taxes, they really go all in. It's the principle that the US was built on in the first place.

I apologize for our country and wait for the US tanks to cross the border and end this nonsense.

Seriously speaking, this experiment has gotten a lot of criticism for its rushed preparation. Why are all the participants unemployed? This is something that should apply to every citizen, so where are the laborers, entrepreneurs, housewifes and -husbands, students and pensioners? And 2000 people out of five million is a very small sample of the population, I doubt they'll get any useful results out of this.

I think the thing is, at least they're thinking about alternatives and part of experimentation is that you often have to fail (and a lot at that) on the path to eventual success (which of course is not always guaranteed.)

They have to do smaller scale pilots for this sort of thing, though. You really can't drop something on an entire nation. As for whether it'll work, these experiments with small groups (even social stuff like economics, it's not just medical testing and the like) can work and the results verifiable in such a way that larger things can be rolled on the back of the smaller scale project.

It's been done many times before, not directly translatable from country to country, of course but enough encouraging results such that people are willing to keep trying variants.

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2016/oct/28/universal-basic-income-ontario-poverty-pilot-project-canada

It beats the trying the same old thing that we know won't work because of all the previous failures over the last few decades and even centuries. I'd hate for anyone to think I'm cynical in thinking they often know that but they're doing it anyway so they can skim as much money and power as they can get from a doomed-to-fail exercise set up to crash and burn from the outset.

I found the Sweden attack!  Trump was telling the truth...oh, it was something neo-Nazis did:

http://www.france24.com/en/20170202-swedish-neo-nazis-held-refugee-centre-attack-official

Quote:

STOCKHOLM (AFP) - Three suspected neo-Nazis have been arrested in Sweden after a home-made bomb attack on an asylum-seeker centre last month left one person seriously injured, security services said Thursday.

The three suspects "are or were in the past members of the Nordic Resistance Movement", a neo-Nazi group, said Mats Ljungqvist of the anti-terror prosecutor's office.

Trump doesn't even want to focus on white supremacists anymore, as his administration said, so attacks like this don't matter to him (or the Quebec City one).

Breaking news: Aftonbladet reports what really happened on the fateful day Trump warned us about:

Quote:
A wooden moose got the attention of a lovesick moose bull. It all happened in 79 year old Ove Lindqvist’s garden in Byske outside Skellefteå, northern Sweden. ”I thought it was going to start a fight, instead it humped the wooden moose thrice”, he said.

Saw some guy on Twitter credit Trump with playing "4-dimensional chess" with the media by referencing the "Sweden incident" and forcing them to talk about the "rape epidemic" that's going on there. The delusional has settled into the marrow.

On that supposed rape epidemic, I've looked into it and it seems that there is a meme going around the alt-right sphere and recently picked up by Tucker Carlson (where Trump likely got this from) that implies that the recent influx of migrants has resulted in an uptick of sexual attacks on white women. The truth is more complicated and it involves the laws defining rape in Sweden, which in turn has increased the number of sexual assaults that are actually reported, but in no way suggests anything resembling an "epidemic". I have yet to find anything from a reputable source that links any of this to migrants.

I'll be blunt and state that, yes, we know that some cultures have an ongoing history of treating women as property and that no one, regardless of where you come from or your station in life, is immune to being a piece of shit, but what I see happening here is a Frankenstein meme cobbled together from juked stats and stereotypes and turned loose into the world as something that might play as a living truth if you don't look too closely.

There's a discussion going on over at MotherJones now: http://www.motherjones.com/kevin-drum/2017/02/we-should-practice-truth-statistics-even-when-it-hurts

Quote:

If poverty really is a causal factor, maybe it means Sweden needs to be more generous. Other statistics suggest that the children of the foreign-born have much lower crime rates than their parents. And as Beauchamp says, "rape" in Sweden is defined pretty broadly.

Still, if we bring up this subject at all, we have to present the statistics fairly. In the US, immigrants seem to commit crimes at lower rates than native-born Americans. But Sweden is a different country, and the statistics suggest that foreign-born immigrants do indeed commit crimes there in much larger numbers than native Swedes.

And a really insightful comment from that discussion:

Quote:

The problem with these statistics is that they mash various groups of foreigners together indiscriminately. When you look at Syrian refugees, for example, their crime rate is actually pretty low (excluding immigration offenses, most of which are not prosecuted under the refugee convention, anyway). Foreign crime in Europe tends to be dominated by organized crime from Eastern Europe and North Africa. The perpetrators of the events of New Years Eve in Cologne a year ago were primarily members of pickpocket gangs, for example.

Fun fact: on a per capita basis, Germans in Austria have a higher crime rate than Austrians. That's not because Germans are more likely to be criminal than Austrians, but primarily because criminals like to exploit the difficulties that law enforcement has with investigating and prosecuting cross-border crime.

I did remember how part of it included how they'd stolen (and used) anti-tank weapons from Swedish Army bunkers.

Another interesting thing was how complex and established their business empires are and with their legitimate businesses getting to be so profitable, they're increasingly moving out of crime as the return is increasingly not worth it versus turning legitimate.

The point there being is they're less and less exploiting the system and more and more actually producing stuff people can use legitimately.

As opposed to Mr 45.

A video has unearthed where Milo Yiannopoulos advocates for legal sex with 13-year-olds:

https://twitter.com/ReaganBattalion/status/833405993006616576

CPAC, you know how to pick 'em!

CPAC has been trying to defend Yiannopoulos' keynote role by standing behind a "free speech" mantra, and I think many of the leaders (who didn't feel blindsided by the pick) are going to have an even harder time standing by that now.

Conservatives, it didn't need to be this way.  You didn't need to normalize Yiannopoulos and his views.  You did.  Now, you own it.  Swim in your shit.
